Rose Veranda - Shangri-la Hotel

Rose Veranda - Shangri-la Hotel
22 Orange Grove Rd, 258350
Tel:6213 4486

Since I am returning back to Melbourne the next day, my boyfriend planned a special treat for me - my all time favourite high tea session at Rose Veranda. I can't remember how many times I have been there, but I kept returning and the food / desserts is still as good as ever since I first visited more than a decade ago. Shangri-la has some renovations or something years back so coffee garden is now the Line Restaurant and etc if you get what I meant.

Perfect venue to chill out with your partner or girlfriends. Never mind those calories!

mains
roast beef - my boyfriend's favourite!
salads / sushi/ starters
soup of the day - cream of broccoli
 Durian and mango cakes
cakes! I always back for the cakes there because they are of certain standard, unlike those cheap mass manufactured cakes as regular buffet dessert corners. I actually save stomach space to savour these dainty cakes!
my all time favourite - ' Happy Birthday' Tea from TWG and tea of the day. Apparently they are both the same for that very Sunday.
cheese platter
fruits

We will definitely be back for more, although it is quite pricey. If I remembered correctly, it should be about $45++/pax.

Thank you dear for the lovely experience :B

Windowsill

Windowsill

You may want to order it online for parties  :)

Banana Almond Brittle - oh sooo yummy!

A very comfortable environment to chill and enjoy nice pies.
Went over to windowsill the second cafe of the day cause I am still so hungry from the first hahaha. Good food in Melbourne probably stretch my stomach quite a bit.

Since all of us had dinner appointments less than 2 hours time we decided to order a cup of coffee/ pot of tea and share a slice of Banana Almond Brittle. Best dessert ordered for the day. I hate it when desserts get too sweet for my liking and then after a few bites we get sick of it. Not for this one. Sweetness is well balanced and almond brittles added additional crunch to this unique slice of pie/ tart what ever you call it hahas. Each bite you can anticipate an alternate of chocolate or almond brittle for a switch.

Yum yum in my tum tum . Love banana desserts !

There's this cafe and brunch craze since I got back from Melbourne and there's some mixed feelings towards it (for me I guess). I have had really good brunches in Melbourne so I tend to compare price / taste/ portions to those I had in Melbourne when I do mental rating.

My friends really love cafe hopping so they introduced this lovely cafe to me, unfortunately I think it is on the pricey end. Don't get me wrong. The prices on the menu seems really affordable but the portion is way too small even for a skinny girl like me. I think I have an average appetite and the aglio olio is not enough for me. It is average tasting as well, definitely not the best that I have eaten so far.

The curry baked rice is really good though, fragrant and flavourful but I don't think it is something I will look for when I go for brunch or I did head to some kopitiam for local food that are even cheaper and tastier.Well I guess we are paying for the envrionment and service.

I liked that the tiramisu is place in a glass but I think I am paying for the container which is not very practical. I would suggest that they recycle the containers and charge a lower price so that it will be more pocket friendly cause novelty dies out after a while IMHO.
